Here’s a fun project to take on when you’ve either got nothing to do or want a bit more variety in the day.
Add Annotations to Analytics.
You should probably be adding in annotations to your Analytics accounts for the stuff that matters – like sales/promotions (offline, online or both), major website changes (structure, content) and of course, algorithm changes by Google.
Don’t despair if you’ve forgotten when major updates were because here’s a cheat sheet from Moz.com that will help you figure out when major algorithm changes were rolled out.
If you manage many websites, this can take a fair bit of time but it’s a worthwhile investment because you’ll be able to connect the dots and draw conclusions on website performance and influencing factors so much more easily.
For a serious cure to boredom, why not annotate every single major algorithm update in Analytics!
